Ranch of the Chapel San Miguel de Allende

Rancho de la Capilla is named 'ranch of the chapel' because of the 17th century chapel on the grounds. Inside the chapel indigenous paintings and sculptures are still fresh and beautiful....an intimate and charming wedding location or venue for a special celebration.

Rancho de la Capilla is named 'ranch of the chapel' because of the 17th century chapel on the grounds. Insidethe chapel indigenous paintings and sculptures are still fresh and beautiful....an intimate and charming wedding location or venue for a special celebration.

The tiny chapel at Rancho de la Capilla will accommodate only the wedding party and those officiating at the ceremony...however, the patio which overlooks it, provides space for up to 150 seated guests.

The altar in the photo below center, and at the left with the lillies, can be filled with flowers, decorated with traditional Mexican "papel picado" or decorated to your preference.

There are a variety of priests, ministers, padres and alternate officiates available in the San Miguel area to provide you with the ceremony of your choice.

The walls inside the chapel at Rancho de la Capilla are extensively covered in frescos painted by local indigenous several centuries ago. In their efforts to convert the indigenous to Catholocism, the conquering Spaniards and their priests, encouraged the indigenous to use images, motifs and stories from their own pagan practices.
Frescos like these play an important role in the explanation of the blend of races and religionswhich define Mexico. The exquisite image of a vase on the upper left has become the basis for our logo at Rancho de la Capilla as seen below. We are proud to offer our charming chapel, an enchanting piece of yesteryear to you for your most memorable occasion.

The Chapel

Our chapel is one of hundreds throughout the Mexican countryside built during colonial times. Many are gone or in ruins. We are fortunate that ourchapel has survived, along with its beautiful paintings and sculptures.
The chapel, after which our ranch is named, has blessed numerous weddings, its dramatic interior filled with flowers and traditional Mexican candles.
